March 15, 2019 - Ground Breaking Ceremony and Signing of Implement Agreement for Technology Demonstration Site of Button Mushroom Growing House in BPI, Baguio
The model mushroom-growing facility will be used to cultivate button mushroom all-year round. BPI BNCRDPSC Chief Jesus R. Aspuria said that Baguio is blessed with unique weather condition that is perfect for growing button mushroom. The facility will help increase production of quality mushroom. He thanked the organizations behind this collaborative project and in behalf of DA-BPI, commits to support to attain the project's purpose and objectives.
Button mushroom is very high in value in terms of nutrition and income. The main substrate in growing this kind is rice straws, which will be sourced from rice farmers. Another potential source of income from the rice farmers in the province.
BPI OIC Director George Y. Culaste was honored to accept the mushroom model facility and the challenge to boost the Philippine mushroom industry. He thanked and congratulated BPI CRPSD Chief and National Mushroom Focal Mary Ann B. Guerrero, her team and everyone behind this project.
