BUREAU OF PLANT INDUSTRY - LOS BANOS NATIONAL CROP RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION SUPPORT CENTER celebrates 87th anniversary of its founding with a series of activities across the Center highlighting its achievements and projects.This year's theme is "Pagtatanim Pasaganahin Agriturismo Itaguyod Natin". The opening program was attended by notable personalities - BPI OIC Director George Y. Culaste; Dr. Elpidio M. Agbisit, Jr., Dean UPLB College of Agriculture and Food Science; Los Banos Mayor Ceasar Perez, Dr. Lee Jeong Taek Director of Korea Program on International Agriculture Center in the Philippines; Dr. Nicomedes Eleazar, Director of DA Bureau of Agricultural Research and Milo D. Delos Reyes, Regional Technical Director for Operations of DA-RFO IV CALABAZON.
LB Center Chief, Dr. Herminigilda Gabertan welcomed the guests, farmers and stakeholders and proudly presented LBNCRDPSC's accomplishments over the years and its plans in the coming years. She acknowledged contributions of previous leaderships and the relentless support and efforts of the employees of LBNCRDPSC for the Center's success.
Following opening ceremony was the unveiling of marker of Alfonso N. Eusebio Building Multi Purpose Hall and Plant Pathology Laboratory which was funded by DA-BAR.
Farmers' Forum on Agri-Entrepreneurship was also conducted. Field tour was also arranged for the guests and farmers in the afternoon at the Seeds and Seedlings (S&S) Plaza.
#SakayNaSaAgrikultura is just fitting to emphasize the Department's holistic approach in the agriculture value chain and this time innovate in promoting Knowledge-based Farm Tourism (Agri-tourism) as key partner in promoting agriculture to younger generation.
