Nutrition Month 2018

The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) joined with the Dietary Section of Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) in the celebration of Nutrition Month on July 26-27, 2018. The theme “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin” aims to contribute to improve food and nutrition security by increasing access to a diversified source of food for families and communities as well as improve income through sales from home grown produce.

BPI, with the Crop Research and Production Support Division gave away vegetable seeds, information, education and communication (IEC) materials and technical advice on how to grow vegetables even in a limited space. More than 2,000 packets of seeds (patola, ampalaya, cowpea, sitao, mustard, pechay, upland kangkong and mungbean) were distributed to 200 OMMC out-patients, employees and visitors.

BPI conducts Urban Gardening Seminar every last Wednesday of each month to ensure that every household can grow their own food. To reserve a seat and other plant propagation inquiries, the CRPSD can be reached through telephone number 524-0889.
