Bureau of Plant Industry supports 17th National Mango Festival with a theme of “REINVIGORATING THE PHILIPPINE MANGO INDUSTRY” on May 25, 26 and 27, 2018 at ETON Centris Walk, Quezon Ave., Quezon City.

 

This activity aims to gather mango producers, farmers and growers from all over the Philippines. This is also to encourage the Filipino mango farmers to rehabilitate their mango tress and increase their production and profitability, intensify market linkages and develop new products or processed products.

 

Guest of Honor, Senator Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food showed her support to the Filipino Mango Growers and also for Filipino Farmers. She reiterated that she will continue support the mango industry with the help of Villar SIPAG Farm School. She also encouraged the stakeholders to seek help from her office and from other institutions and organization to help them address the industry’s problems including pest management.

Mr. Antonio Rola, President AMIA and Mr. Ramil Rubia, Vice President AMIA conducted plenary session, workshops and seminars on the prevailing best agricultural practices, mango fruit production process in large and small farms and market linkages of the Philippine Mango.

 

The Bureau of Plant Industry provided information booth where mango propagation, pest control, mango processing and other information were made available. Free vegetable seeds were given away. Agriculturists were also available to answer queries.

 

The three- day event, organized by AMIA (Aani Mango Industry Network) was a success and with the support and combined efforts of all the key players, our stakeholders can look forward to a reinvigorated mango industry.
