BPI - National Plant Quarantine Services Division conducts a 2-day training on Pest Risk Analysis on July 18-19, 2017 at Best Western Hotel , Ermita, Manila.

 

This training aims to let participants describe the international agreements that relate to PRA and overall context in which PRA is conducted. Further, to be able to decide on how to initiate the PRA process, identify the relevant information needed and activities prior to the conduct of PRA , acquire understanding, familiarity and skills in accessing the probability entry, establishment, spread and potential economic/environmental impact of a pest, as well as identification of the most appropriate measures to mitigate/ reduce risk to an acceptable level and described the value of PRA as science based system for phytosanitary measures that facilitate safe international trade in plants and plant products.

 

Topics to be discussed include PRA Initial Stage, Data requirements for PRA, Pest Risk Assessment, Assessment of Probability of Entry, Assessment Probability of Establishment, Probability of Spread, Potential economic impact/consequence, Over-all risk assessment, risk management and risk communication.
