Assistant Secretary for Planning and Project Development and BPI-OIC Director Atty. Paz J. Benavidez issued a Memorandum alerting all regions to closely monitor areas for possible infestation. This is in view of the reported and validated cutworm/ armyworm infestation on onion in Sto. Domingo Nueva Ecija affrecting 346.3 hectares and considering the El Nino affecting agricultural crops wherein pest outbreak will likely to occur. 

The Agency, through its Crop Pest Management Division provided pertinent information and possible appropriate management strategies.
