Miss Earth Candidates visits BPI-Guimaras

Five of the Miss Earth candidates, Miss Denmark, USA, Peru, Myanmar and Belize visited the Bureau of Plant Industry-Guimaras National Crop Research Development and Production Support Center (BPI-Guimaras NCRDPSC) on October 17, 2016.

The candidates were welcomed through a short briefing concerning the Center’s programs and projects particularly on the production of export quality fruits and development of different environment-friendly technologies for sustainable production. Technology demonstration on the asexual propagation on mango by cleft grating was also showcased.  Moreover, production and experimental areas of the Center were visited.

During the short discussion, the Miss Earth Candidates were grateful to know and observe how the environment in the province of Guimaras is being taking care of.  Production of export quality agricultural crops and development of environment-friendly technologies that would lessen the use of synthetic pesticides were also appreciated. They hoped to visit the province again in the future to taste the popular Guimaras mango.

The visit of some of the candidates of Miss Earth 2016 in the Center and other agri-tourism areas in the province of Guimaras was part of their activities in promoting care and love for the mother earth.
